Success Stories

Bridgitte came into our care after being abandoned in a remote northern community.  She was only nine months old and she had been left to fend for herself in a rural area.  Bridgitte was initially quite fearful, so she was placed in a loving foster home where we could work on confidence building and socialization, while providing her with the veterinary treatment that she needed.  Bridgitte blossomed under the care of her dedicated foster mom and her happy, gentle, sweet personality began to shine through.  After being spayed, tattooed, micro-chipped and vaccinated, Bridgitte was ready to start her new life.  She found a fabulous forever home in Chemainus.  Her new mom and dad are recently retired so they have lots of time to spend with her and she has a canine sister named Sophia to run and play with.

***An update from Bridgitte’s mom:

“I promise that I will not be one of those doggie mom’s who emails you to boast continually about the perfect dogs…but they are perfect…just kidding!  But definitely they are cute together…everyday Bridgitte changes and always it is a delight.  She is learning a great deal from Sophia…we are so happy to have her…Bridgitte and Buddy the grey cat actually get along very well, yesterday she licked his face…thought you’d enjoy these pics…

Take care and be well.”

"...It is very nice of you to keep in touch.  Let me begin with the most important fact which is that we love and adore Bridgitte and would never want to be without her.  She is a pleasure.

There have been minor problems but nothing that we cannot deal with or did not anticipate.  Bridgitte does not seem to trust young children and barks nervously when they come near her.  We just keep her close and reassure her when small children come near and we let Sophia be the ambassador of goodwill to little ones.

Bridgitte is power walking every morning - she really enjoys it and benefits from the exercise.  Her social skills with neighbourhood dogs continue to improve.  She is learning to relax and is very loving with both of us.  The morning is especially pleasant as she worms her way up the bed and lies on her back waiting for belly rubs.  Sophia and Bridgitte love to wrestle and rough play every evening after dinner.  It has become a ritual for them.  There is very little jealousy as they both are given tons of affection.  Bridgitte does do erratic and sporadic barking but once again we are helping her along and there is lots of improvement.  Bridgitte can be full of beans and we enjoy her antics and energy.

The groomer has seen Bridgitte once and we are going again this Friday.  Bridgitte is really quite wonderful about grooming.  I'm sure alot of people think that their dog is the smartest and most wonderful and we aren't any different.  Bridgitte does continue to amaze and impress us.  She is a little sweetie.  I am enclosing a photo of the girls walking at Long Beach and Bridgitte after her first grooming.  I doubt that we can ever thank you enough for bringing little Bridgitte into our lives."
