Christie
was rescued as part of the "New Hope" program in Los Angeles.
This is a recent initiative designed to make it easier for approved
rescue groups to help dogs who are on the euthanasia list in
overcrowded city shelters. Christie was in rough shape when
she arrived at the shelter; she was filthy and her hair was badly
matted. Her nails were so overgrown that they had grown into
the pads of her feet. She was fearful and aggressive towards
the shelter staff. For this reason, she was not available for
adoption to the general public, so rescue groups were her only hope.
Thankfully, she was taken into care by our partner rescue group,
Life 4 Paws in LA, then flown to British Columbia where
she has found a fantastic forever home in Victoria.

***An
update from Christie's family:
"Well
I would not exactly say Christie is settling in .... she now owns
the house. What a little dictator !! She loves to go
out for walks - last Wednesday she had a total of 7 .... which is
very good both for her and for us ... lots of fresh air and other
dogs to socialize with. She sleeps on the bed and there are
NO accidents in the house which she now has free run of when we
are not there.
We have had
some pictures developed and will send you a couple this week.
In short she is a little darling sweetie and I think the 3 of us
will be very happy together."
