Success Stories

Emma came into our care as a senior when she found herself homeless following a divorce.  At the age of twelve, she'd never known any other home or family and her transition from a life and routine she'd known well into a foster home was difficult.

Emma is an independent dog and she was slow to warm up to new people.  Fortunately, she found the perfect forever home with a young lady in Victoria who was prepared to give her all the time and space she needed to adjust to her new life and family.  Emma has settled in very nicely.  She shares her new home with both canine and feline siblings and foster siblings.

***An update from Emma’s mom:

"I can't and do not want to imagine life or my home without Emma.  She has brought so much to all of the animals and to me, in learning, loving and not only understanding differences, but really coming to appreciate them.

When Emma first came she adored to nest into blankets, towels or anything soft.  She spent her first couple of weeks hiding under blankets.  Eventually this became a game where I would come home and call out to her while walking past soft piles that she had buried herself in.  Soon enough, one of the lumps would move just a bit, as though she were giggling to herself.  After calling out to her a few more times she would either throw just one paw out from under the blankets, or peek through a hole looking at me with one eye.  I am delighted to say that she often still does this and it is as adorable as it was the first time, every time.

Just the other day Emma did her first "play" which included at least two play bows.  Oh how far we have both come from our first days together.  I have delighted in every step of the way watching her grow and allow herself to really be loved.  Little Emma is a very special girl who came into my life right when I needed her most.  I like to think we did the same for her.

My little golden fox still has much to do and much to see in her life and I am so glad to be allowed to be a part of that with her.  None of this could have happened without Furever After and I will be forever grateful to Leslie and Darcy for seeing what a great fit Emma and I would be.  Thank you Furever After!"
