Enzo
was surrendered to Furever After Small Dog
Rescue at the age of two after some dramatic changes in his family's
life made it impossible for them to continue providing him with the
care that he needed. Enzo was suffering from separation
anxiety and he would not have coped well in a shelter environment,
so he was placed in
a loving foster home where we could begin to work with him.
Over the course of several months, Enzo's
dedicated foster mom was able to build up his confidence so that he
was less anxious about being left alone in the house. She also
made great progress with his obedience training and socialization.
After receiving a clean bill of health from our veterinarian and
being updated on his vaccinations, Enzo was ready to find his
forever home and he was adopted by a wonderful couple in the
Cowichan Valley. Enzo's new family is committed to continuing
on with his training and socialization and his mom works mostly from
home, so she has lots of time to spend with him. Enzo has a bright
new future ahead of him!

***An update from Enzo’s
family:
"We brought our little guy, Enzo, home on January 1 - what a
GREAT start to the New Year! He's been an absolute joy ever
since. Although we've only had him a short time, we have
completely fallen head over heels in love with our new addition and
he probably hears, 'You are just the cutest thing', at least fifty
times a day! Enzo loves his on-leash, as well as off-leash,
walks which he gets to enjoy daily as well as being with us pretty
much wherever we have to go. He especially loves to socialize
and run around with the little guys who are about his size but still
has some trepidation when he comes across the bigger dogs, although
he's getting better in that respect as well, we're happy to report
(he hardly barks at them at all now)! I also have the good
fortune of working from home so Enzo gets LOTS of attention and it's
always such a treat for me when I am working at my computer to have
him come up and look at me with that cute little face asking to come
up. Of course, I drop everything immediately to give/get some
lovin' - so fun!
It's
hard to express how happy my husband and I are to have made the
decision to become the parents of a new little four-legged wonder,
especially since it wasn't so long ago that we had to put our other
devoted furry companion of eleven years to rest. I never
thought the gap that we were living with since that day would ever
close, but somehow, being able to give our love from that
never-ending well to another has managed to ease the pain of losing
her, leaving us instead with many joyful memories. So, many
thanks to both Leslie and Linda for making this possible. Enzo
has truly become a part of our lives."
