Success Stories

Ginger was used solely for breeding purposes for the first few years of her life.  She was then sold to an abusive and neglectful man who kept her tied to a tree in the back yard.  When she initially came into our care, she was extremely skittish and fearful.  She had never lived in a home before and she had a lot to learn about manners and housetraining.  After spending several months in our foster care program and experiencing the joy of living in a loving home environment, Ginger's confidence had grown.  Once she had been spayed, tattooed, micro-chipped, updated on her vaccinations and had some dental care completed, she was ready for adoption.

Ginger found an amazing new home with a wonderful family in Shawnigan Lake.  She has a canine sister named "Coco" and her new mom works from home, so she has lots of time to spend with the "kids".

***An update from Ginger's family:

“Just thought I would send a quick update, all is going very well here.  Ginger is settling in really nicely and after such a short time she is trying to be friendly to all, even men as long as I am there.  She wants to be petted by everyone, especially if she sees Coco is being petted and made much of, she really wants a piece of the action then.  I think given time they will be a very nice twosome.

I consider her fully house trained now as we have never had an accident and when she wants out she sits in front of me and stares, just like Coco.  Learned that one real fast.

I am enclosing a few pics so you can see her favourite spots, in the bedroom they have sun all morning and they can see a beautiful view of the lake without moving.  When they disappear I know exactly where they went, sure enough the two of them are sunbathing.”

“I thought I would give you an update on Ginger and how her life is progressing.  She is doing super, just fits right in and you would believe she has always lived with us.  Coco and Ginger are very close now and where one is the other is not far behind.  She spends most of her time outside or on the porch.  Loves the whole family and is especially fond of my grandson, who says she is his favorite dog and he loves her.

I am enclosing a few pictures so you can see Ginger's life.  As you can see she loves to go for a row, surprise, even Coco won't get in the little boat.  She has fallen off the walkway and just swam in to shore as cool as can be, no panicking at all.

We are truly enjoying our little dog and the longer we have her the more we are discovering her funny little personality.  She is displaying quite a comical, charming side lately…”
