Jessie
was a stray who ended up in a local animal control facility.
She remained at the shelter for over a month and nobody came to
claim her or adopt her, so the shelter staff called us to see if we
could help. When Jessie came into our care she was badly
matted, her teeth were in desperate need of cleaning and she was
urinating constantly; her urine was stained
with blood. She was taken to the vet immediately and X-rays
showed that her bladder was filled with stones. The vet was
also worried about a shadow that appeared on her intestines in the X-ray as he thought it might be a tumor. After being treated with
antibiotics for a few days, Jessie underwent surgery to remove her
bladder stones and clean her teeth. Thankfully, the "shadow" on her
intestines wasn't a tumor after all. Jessie spent several weeks in a
loving foster home while she recovered from her surgery, then she
was adopted by a wonderful family in Richmond. Jessie's mom is an
artist who works from home and there is a couch right beside her
easel that is specially reserved for Jessie!

***An update
from Jessie's family:
"Jessie is a little doll, we love her very much. It is as if
she has always been a member of the family. We really cannot say
enough good things about her. We are very grateful to Furever After
for bringing us together, a really great match. Thank you to you and
everyone who works with your organization."
Special thanks to Healthy Hearts Pet Products and Cocker Spaniel Rescue
of BC for
sponsoring Jessie and assisting with her medical costs. |
