Katie is a sweet senior who was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Los Angeles. She was extremely neglected in her past life and when she came into rescue she was emaciated, filthy and badly matted. She was urinating inappropriately and it quickly became evident that she was in desperate need of veterinary care. She had a raging bladder infection with crystals in her urine. An ultrasound was done to confirm that there were no stones in her kidneys or bladder, then she was
started on antibiotics and a special diet to prevent crystals and stones from forming. Once she had received treatment, it became clear that Katie's house manners were perfect; she had simply been trying to communicate that she wasn't feeling well. After introducing Katie to several families who didn't feel that she was a good match, Katie's foster parents realized that she had already found her forever home with them!
***An update from Katie's family:
"Katie is a sociable little girl, with kisses and tail wags for everyone. Now that her health has improved, she enjoys long walks in the woods, as well as car rides and strolls on the beach. She gets along well with our other dogs and enjoys playing with her squeaky toys." |
