Kia was a local dog who was just under a year old and had already been through two homes when she came into rescue. Her housetraining progress had been delayed due to crystals in her urine with subsequent bladder infections, and nobody had the patience to work with her on her housetraining issues. Once her medical problem had been diagnosed and treated, and she had been placed on a special diet, Kia was ready to learn. As soon as she came into rescue, her foster mom went back to basics with
her and
treated her like a very young puppy. With patience and consistency, Kia was no longer having any accidents and she was ready for a new home with a family who would be committed to continuing to work with her. Kia found a fabulous forever home in Abbotsford and her new family loves her to pieces!

****An update from Kia’s family:
“Now that Kia has been with us for almost three months, I can see that she is visibly more settled than when she first arrived. I must say that I was amazed at how quickly she adapted to our household even during the first few weeks considering that she had been in several homes. In the past month, I have noticed that her self confidence has grown tremendously and that she is trying much harder to please her family.
Kia’s urinary problem is basically non-existent these days---I can’t remember the last accident in the house. She loves all her human family and joyfully greets them when they come home. Kia has learned the fun of playing with toys both by herself and with others including our other dog, Harley. She and Harley have learned how to play a game of tug-of-war (especially with the fabric bone you sent) and they are just so much fun to watch. She has picked up on the routines of the household very well and happily participates in all.
We are so happy with Kia and love her immensely---that includes Harley. Thank you for accepting our application and giving us the chance to have such a lovely pet friend.”
