Success Stories

Lexie was a senior who had been horribly neglected when she came into our care.  She had been living on the streets and fending for herself for an extended period of time.  Her coat was terribly matted and filthy and her skin was badly infected.  Lexie was also suffering from congestive heart failure and a collapsing trachea.  Her teeth were in desperate need of attention, but she wasn't strong enough to undergo an anesthetic, so our vet opted to manually scale and clean them because that was all she was able to tolerate.

Lexie is currently being provided with some much needed medical treatment and plenty of TLC in a loving foster home.  We know that her prognosis isn't good, but we are committed to providing her with the care that she needs so she can live in comfort for the rest of her days.  Lexie is feeling much better than she's felt in a very long time and she enjoys having a warm, soft place to sleep, healthy food and lots of love and attention.  Lexie's foster parents adore her and she will remain with them permanently in our foster care program.

After spending six happy months with her foster parents, Lexie's heart failure progressed and it became more and more difficult for her to maintain her airway.  Her mom and dad knew that it was time for her to make her journey to the Rainbow Bridge.
