Success Stories

When Maggie came into our care at age five, she was incredibly anxious.  She was painfully thin and she was fearful of everyone and everything.  Through no fault of her own, she had already been through two homes in her short life.  Her first owner gave her away to a friend because she was moving.  In her second home, Maggie found the resident lab puppy very overwhelming, which caused her to retreat and spend most of her time hiding under the bed, barely even emerging to eat.  The busy household was a stressful place for Maggie and nobody had the time or patience to work with her, so she continued to withdraw further and further into her shell.  Realizing that Maggie was losing weight and continuing to deteriorate more and more each day, the family decided to surrender her to our care.

Maggie was placed in a loving foster home and gradually over a period of several months, her confidence began to grow.  She started to gain weight and thrive---she even learned how to play!  After being spayed, tattooed, micro-chipped, updated on her vaccinations and having some dental care completed, Maggie was ready for adoption.  But when the time came, Maggie's foster parents found that they were unable to part with their precious girl.  She had already found her forever home with them!  Maggie is now living the good life with her new family in Shawnigan Lake.

"After a lot of thought I find I cannot give Maggie away to someone else.  I think she has found her forever home and her best friend, Pippen, here.  I am not positive she would do well elsewhere as she can be very easily frightened and will retreat quickly.  When walking with a friend yesterday, she said Maggie finally looks happy and content.  I agree.

Many thanks, (and then there were four!), lol, attached are some pics of Mags and her buddy, Pip."
