Oliver was
only nine months old when he was surrendered to an overcrowded city
shelter in Los Angeles. He had spent his puppy-hood as a “yard” dog
and had been neglected and abused. When he was brought in to the
shelter, he was filthy and badly matted and he desperately needed to
be cleaned up, but he was so fearful and aggressive that he had to
be anesthetized in order to have his hair clipped. He was not
available for adoption to the general public, so rescue groups were
his only hope. He was slated for euthanasia, but was rescued and
flown to British Columbia to begin his new life.
Oliver was
rehabilitated in a loving foster home, where he finally experienced
the joy of a human’s gentle touch and he gradually learned to start
trusting people. After five months in foster care, Oliver was ready
for adoption and he found the most amazing forever home with a
recently retired lady in Nanaimo. Oliver’s new mom is a perfect
match for him. She has endless patience and is continuing to work
with him to build his trust and confidence. Oliver has a fabulous
future ahead of him!

***An
update from Oliver's mom:
"We are back
from the groomers and the little man was absolutely fantastic. I
was so proud of him and the groomer was wonderful. What a great
way to start the day. After nails, we went to the farmers field to
blow off steam. He absolutely loves his walks in the farmer's
field. He runs and smiles the entire time and makes everyone
who is along for the walk laugh!!!! He is quite an
incredible doggy. I love him so much. My friend made him a coat
for outside on not so pleasant days and he looks so handsome in
it. Hope to see you in the not too distant future. Bye!"
Special thanks to Jan and the Calendar Girls
for sponsoring Oliver and assisting with his boarding costs in Los
Angeles and
his transportation costs to British Columbia. |
