Sammy
was two years old when he was surrendered to Furever After Small Dog
Rescue. Due to health problems and financial challenges, his
family was no longer able to provide him with the care that he
needed. He was placed in a loving foster home so that we could
spend some time assessing him and getting to know him better.
Sammy was a great little dog who displayed some slight dominance
issues. He would need to find a new family who could provide
him with fair and consistent rules, boundaries and limitations.
After being treated for an ear infection, Sammy was updated on his
vaccinations and micro-chipped.
Sammy was adopted by a
wonderful young couple in North Vancouver. His new family has
lots of time to spend with him, and he can even go to work with his
mom!

***An
update from Sammy's family:
"...It's
been one week today that we have had Sammy in our household.
Not only has he settled down quite nicely, but he has definitely
become a member of the family. Almost immediately upon
arriving on the North Shore, Sammy was drawn to me and has made sure
we have been inseparable since. As we speak, he is rolling all
over the carpet and squeaking his duck toy. I have been
bringing him to work with me, which he seems to enjoy. He gets
the run of the clinic when there are no appointments. We are
working on the no pant tugging and barking when someone comes
through the front door business; I foresee a long future before
that's perfected, ha-ha.
Sammy
has warmed up to Andrew quicker than I initially thought, which is
relieving. We are slowly working on him being separated from
me and not having a fit about it. He has now stopped waiting
for me at the front door and will sit with Andrew and play. We
are truly enjoying his company and we are looking forward to what
the future has to offer the three of us."

"...I
figured it was time for a Sammy update. Sammy has adapted so
well into our home, he truly is a part of the family now. All
of August we went camping every weekend in Harrison, which he
absolutely loved! He is a better dog camping than he is at
home ;) ha-ha. He was off-leash the entire time,
gallivanting about like he owned the place, and played with his
Ridgeback, Bloodhound and Dachshund friends :) We took
him swimming (which he only wanted to do if I was in the water) and
he enjoyed playing with our friends' children that were there, mind
you I finally figured this was probably due to the fact he had a
sneaky steal-their-food-business deal with them, ha-ha. He
loves his walks and his Frisbee and also enjoys coming to work with
me and doing reception work :) He tries to play
with the clinic cats, but they don't give him the time of day, quite
cute to watch. He has a few doggy friends from the building
and our nightly walks in the park. He has learned stay/wait,
come/go, and he has learned off-leash in the park as well. He
is doing well with Andrew, listening more and relaxing with him."
