Sierra
was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in North Central Los
Angeles, where she was destined for euthanasia.
She was flown to British Columbia and has found a wonderful
forever home in Powell River.
An
update from Sierra's family:
November 2006
“Here
are a couple of pictures of Sierra.
I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy her.
I
just wanted to let you know how much your work is appreciated, and
that I’m glad that these animals have such loving homes to come
to.
Thank
you for rescuing Sierra, she was meant to come into our lives, and
I’m so glad she has. She’s got such a beautiful
disposition, and is very affectionate and I’m glad she came to a
home that had some to spare.
I
have decided that we will leave the 11th of November as
her birthday. We will remember where she came from on that
day, and celebrate that she had and has a future, from that point
on.
Please
feel free to stay in touch, as we will probably continue to take
pictures and I’m sure you will enjoy them as much as we enjoy
Sierra. Thank you again, in so many ways.”

“Sierra
is a people doggy, she adores company. She’s just so
adorable; you can’t help but love her. Sierra has a love for
children, and my grandsons seem to spend a lot of time on their
bottoms when she’s around.
Our
4-year-old cat is the boss around here. She has accepted
Sierra, but the dog had better not get in her face, or she’ll swat
and hiss a little at her. However, that is slowly receding
into the past. It’s such a joy to watch all the animals
here. We also have a 7-year-old budgie and she’s even part
of the fun. They all are aware of each other and there’s
never a day goes by that we aren’t laughing at something they’ve
done.
Sierra
also loves stuffed animals, so we trek off to the Economy Store to
purchase about 3 at a time for her. She then proceeds to rip
them up. She will run up and down the hall retrieving them,
and it’s hilarious to watch.
At Christmas,
she got to open presents. She used her teeth and paws, opened
it herself, found a scarf inside, and very gently moved it around
with her teeth, nudged it a bit, and found a goody inside. It
was sooooooo cute, we were all awwwwwwing!
Well,
that’s it for now, thank you for your beautiful letter. I
really enjoy hearing from you. I’m happy we can share Sierra
together, as if it wasn’t for your loving kindness, she would
never have found her way to us. She was meant to be ours, and
we love everything about her. Thank you for your gift.” |
