Skippy was rescued
from an overcrowded shelter in the
East
Valley
area of
Los Angeles
.
There was row after row of abandoned, unwanted dogs and he
had been sharing a cramped kennel with six others.
Aside from a Doberman puppy, all the dogs in his run were small
breed mixes. It was an agonizing decision to look into the
sweet faces of all the dogs and only select Skippy.
Unfortunately, lack of financial resources and foster homes
prevented us from saving more.
Skippy was flown to British
Columbia and immediately placed in a loving foster home in
Powell
River
. He was emaciated and
fragile, so initially required extra care. But due to the
compassionate efforts of his foster mom and dad, he flourished.
The retired couple provided
him with all the TLC he deserved.
Within a month,
he looked like a new dog! By regularly receiving good quality
food, he had gained weight. He had even built up some muscle
from his walks and play time. His ribs, hips and backbone were
no longer sticking out! And his dry and brittle fur had
transformed into a healthy, shiny coat.
His foster
parents adored him and quickly realized they wanted to offer him a
permanent place in their home because his fun and playful
personality had brought so much joy to their lives. Skippy now
lives a pampered life with this wonderful couple in
Powell
River.
