Sophie
was rescued from an overcrowded city shelter in Los Angeles.
She had never been properly socialized and she was fearful of new
people and new situations. Her fear was manifested by barking,
lunging, growling and snapping at strangers. Therefore, Sophie
did not present well in the shelter environment and she was in
imminent danger of euthanasia. She was rescued and flown to
British Columbia in search of her forever home.
Sophie was adopted by a
semi-retired couple in Parksville who are committed to working with
her and continuing her training and socialization.
***An
update from Sophie’s
family:
"We
are delighted with our little Sophie; she is coming along quite
nicely after one month. She can sit, stay, heel and is learning
to shake a paw and lie down. Her aggression is gradually
diminishing, as we often go on outings, where growling and
attacking are not ever allowed. She is a wonderful
traveler in the car, and loves her daily walks, where she is
meeting other dogs regularly.
Sophie spends much of her day on a lap, or in her little dog
bed. She is cuddly, gives kisses, and greets us regularly
like heroes returned from the war. We would not part with
her for anything, and hope she feels the same way about us."
