Success Stories

Trixie was rescued from a busy shelter in Los Angeles where she was just one of many abandoned dogs and she was never even given a second glance by potential adopters.  Trixie was flown to British Columbia and she has found a fabulous new home in Powell River.  Her family is very patient and has lots of experience working with dogs.  Trixie is timid and lacks confidence, but they are committed to continuing to expose her to new experiences and helping to improve her self-esteem. Trixie loves her new canine sibling (a Shih Tzu).  They bonded right away and acted as if they'd been friends forever.  They've been playing nicely ever since.

***An update from Trixie's family:

“Trixie is doing wonderfully.  She's now house trained and plays and has tons more confidence.  She still has abandonment issues and needs more socialization but otherwise she gets on with everyone but our cat.  She's very protective and loyal and is a great little doggie.  She likes to sleep in the bed, under the covers.  I knit her her own sweater and she doesn't seem to mind wearing it on cold days.  She is still a bit of a scrounger and can find food anywhere.  She has put on weight but it is all muscle.  She's a forever part of our family.  Thank you from us and especially from her for the rescue.”
