Foster Homes
Foster
homes are our most valuable resource.
The foster parents are the people who really have a chance to get
to know each dog within the context of a normal home environment, which
provides valuable insight in helping us to determine what type of home
will best be able to meet the individual needs of each dog.
Fostering rescue dogs can be extremely challenging and it can
literally turn your entire household upside-down, but on the other hand,
it can also be the most rewarding thing you’ll ever do!
Because
most of our dogs come from shelters and there has often been a history of
abuse or neglect, we are committed to ensuring that our foster parents are
prepared to provide the level of daily care that each dog requires.
Foster parents play an integral role in the assessment,
socialization and training of our rescue dogs.
Therefore, we ask everyone who is interested in fostering to go
through a similar screening process as potential adopters.
This process helps us to determine which type of dog will be
best-suited for your particular situation so that we can make the best
possible match for both you and the dog. While
our dogs are in foster care, Furever After Small Dog Rescue covers all
medical and grooming expenses, as well as the costs of any other special
care that a particular dog may require. In the event that a dog has behavioral issues that need to be
addressed, we will work with you to provide the necessary training that is
required. The role of the
foster family is to provide lots of love and a safe environment while
helping the dog overcome any medical and/or behavioral challenges so that
the perfect forever home can be found.
